Green Gram Dal commonly known as Mung, Moong beans, Mung beans is available in many forms- whole, split, de husked (yellow) and ground. Green Gram is rich in proteins, dietary fibre and low in cholesterol and saturated fat.

Recipe

The whole beans can be sprouted and mixed with all kind of salads or simply used as vegetable preparation and the split ones can be cooked as dal.Cooking, frying and roasting of sprouts is not recommended as it denatures the nutrients. Steam cooked sprouts may be given to aged people as it is easy to digest.

Tuvar Dal  ⁄  तुवर दाल

Recipe

The beans can be soaked in water and cooked along with vegetables in preparation of a variety of curries that complement well with rice, roti, chapattis, puri, kulcha as well as bread. It can be sprouted after soaking in water for 24 hours and added to salads to enrich it with proteins.
